New Attorneys in Chicago & Peoria Offices

The Chicago and Peoria offices of Ganan & Shapiro are pleased to announce the addition of two new attorneys:  Kate Gilliard in the Chicago office and Roby Javoronok in the Peoria office.

Kate joins us after spending a year working as an attorney for the Director of the Illinois Department of Insurance, providing counsel on issues concerning the regulation of the insurance industry in the state.  She earned her law degree from DePaul University College of Law in Chicago in 2013 and graduated from Oklahoma State University with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature in 2010 – we expect Kate’s excellent writing skills to serve her well in her new role as a workers’ compensation defense attorney.

Roby comes to our Peoria office with a wealth of experience in the area of workers’ compensation law.  After beginning his professional career representing injured employees, he shortly thereafter found a home on the defense side.  Prior to joining Ganan & Shapiro, he spent 7 years with a prominent defense firm, defending employers before the Commission and at the Circuit and Appellate Court levels. He was recently named an “Emerging Lawyer” by Leading Lawyers magazine, a distinction awarded to the top 2% of lawyers under the age of 40 in the state of Illinois who have been practicing less than 10 years. He earned his law degree from Southern Illinois University School of Law in 2005 and graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s of science degree from Western Illinois University in 2002.
