Ganan & Shapiro, P.C. was founded by Clifford I. Ganan and Jay M. Shapiro in 1970 and has enjoyed its current home in the historic River North neighborhood for several years. As with many "young" firms, Clifford Ganan and Jay Shapiro initially began their practice handling general litigation matters. Over time, the firm’s emphasis evolved, to an almost exclusive workers’ compensation defense practice. This has allowed the founding partners, as well as all subsequent partners and attorneys affiliated in the firm, to familiarize themselves with the peculiarities of Illinois workers’ compensation law, and to become proficient in the field.

The Chicago office provides representation of clients in the northern one-third of the State of Illinois, and as requested, specific attorneys handle cases throughout the State of Illinois on behalf of their clients.

In 1980, Clifford Ganan and Jay Shapiro took a bold step when they purchased the eighty-year-old 210 West Illinois loft building in Chicago's River North neighborhood for renovation into law offices and the creation of a new home for the firm.  By late 1981, the renovation was complete and the building was registered as the LaSalle Law Centre.

The Centre retains its vintage charm, bringing to its inhabitants a very strong base from which to grow with integrity and responsibility, an essential component in the philosophy of the firm.  Moving from an established base, this venture, through careful planning, has resulted in the development of a facility designed for the future to meet the specific requirements of the firm's practice, and a cost-savings base from which to practice.

The foresight of developing and owning this facility has provided the firm with flexibility to expand within its own building without incurring the costs generally resulting from growth.  The savings achieved by maintaining fixed costs and overhead are passed on directly to its clients at extremely competitive hourly rates, allowing the firm to achieve its stated philosophy and goals.

Ganan & Shapiro, P.C. welcomes the opportunity to show the LaSalle Law Centre.  It has interesting exposed brick-and-wood beams, and the original elevator motor forms part of the main conference room, which is enclosed in glass.  Designed around the renovated space is the state-of-the-art computer network to meet all the needs of today's modern working environment.  The brick exterior is quite intriguing with its unusual keystone marquee facade.  Mixing the old and beautiful architecture of the past with the latest in modern technology for day-to-day operations gives Ganan & Shapiro, P.C. a uniqueness which related directly to its philosophy of law and practice.
