James M. Byrnes

James M. Byrnes is a Partner in Ganan & Shapiro’s Chicago office. Mr. Byrnes represents businesses at arbitration, before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission, Circuit and Appellate Courts.  Mr. Byrnes is currently assigned to the Wheaton, New Lenox and Chicago, Illinois status calls.

Mr. Byrnes coordinates the firm’s in-house continuing legal education program, and has served as a guest lecturer for various seminars and training sessions. He is a member of the Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Association and the Illinois State Bar Association.  Mr. Byrnes is also an accomplished saxophonist in the “Outcast Jazz Band.”

Mr. Byrnes earned his J.D., from the University of Illinois, Champaign in 1987.  He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1984.  Prior to joining the Ganan & Shapiro team, Mr. Byrnes worked in private practice, as well as a staff attorney for the Illinois Industrial Commission.
